Bleach 148: Ashido, the Shinigami who came from the Past

Ashido stops his blade inches from Rukia’s face. He puts away his sword and walks away. Rukia calls after him and asks him what he was trying to prove. Ashido says that he wanted to test her strength because the forest is very dangerous. Rukia follows him out of the cave, but he stops her from going any further. He says that someone is fighting and Rukia can feel that it is Ichigo and the others.

Ashido comments that Ichigo’s reckless fighting style will just draw more Menos. He prepares to leave and Rukia says they are her friends. Ashido tells her to stay there and asks for her name. She introduces herself and he leaps away. After a moment Rukia jumps after him.

Ichigo blasts a Menos with Getsuga Tenshou but more pop up. They all fire Ceros and Ichigo and the others are forced to run. Uryuu suggests that they retreat and Chad asks what they are going to do about Nell and her friends. Ichigo says that they will save Nell and the others as well as Rukia. Bawabawa pulls up in front of them and they jump on,

A group of Adjuchas meets and discuss the intruders. The leader says that Ashido is involved in the commotion as well. Nell and the others are brought before the leader and he says that they can use them. Nell and her group are thrown into a prison and the leader laughs.

Ashido and Rukia arrive at the place where the battle was going on. A voice asks if she is the intruder. A Hollow appears behind her and throws a punch. He misses her and she takes a good look at the enemy. She realizes from the size and power that it is an Adjuchas. The Hollow attacks and Ashido shouts at Rukia to get back.

The Hollow asks Ashido if he is with the intruders. It then attacks and Ashido scratches its mask. He throws a barrage of punches but Ashido dodges them and then slashes the Hollow across the chest. The Hollow calls on the Gillian and a group of them emerge from the forest. The Adjuchas laughs and Rukia comments that the Gillian can be controlled by Adjuchas.

The whole group of Gillian fire Ceros at Rukia and Ashido. They dodge and Ashido tells Rukia to stay there. He leaps forward and blocks the next cero with one of the masks stuck on the fur on his back. The Adjuchas is shocked and Ashido slices through him before finishing off the other Menos Grande.

Afterward Rukia questions him about the Hollow and Ashido confirms that it was an Adjuchas. They talk a bit about it and then Ashido asks what happened in Soul Society. He tells her that the strength of the Hollows has been changing and now a Soul Reaper has shown up. She has a flashback of Aizen stealing the Hougyoku and leaving Soul Society and she says that a lot of terrible things have happened.

After a moment says ok and does not press any further. He then says that since their friends weren’t there they will look someplace else. Back at the Adjuchas base, the leader is informed of their comrade’s death. He asks if it was Ashido and the other Adjuchas says that there was a Soul Reaper with him. The leader thinks a bit and looks to where Nell and her group are being held prisoner.

Rukia and Ashido kill some more Menos and they hurry on. As they go, Ashido says that he underestimated her strength and with her level she shouldn’t have any trouble fighting against Adjuchas. After a while, Rukia asks Ashido about the mask he wears. Ashido stops walking. Rukia says he does not need to answer but Ashido pulls off the mask and shows his true face.

Ashido explains that it has been several hundred years since he left Soul Society. Ashido reveals that he was chasing some Hollows and ended up there. He says that he has been fighting Hollows ever since. Rukia asks if there is a way to escape and he says there is but he won’t leave because he is a Soul Reaper. Rukia is confused so Ashido explains.

He tells her that probably, all of the Hollows who appear in the real world come from there. By killing them constantly, he hopes to decrease the amount that go to the real world. He turns to Rukia and asks if there has been a decrease in the number of Hollows appearing in the real world. Rukia does not answer and Ashido says that by her expression he can tell that there has been no change. They keep walking.

Meanwhile, at the Adjuchas base, there is a fire going and Nell and her group huddle together nearby. Dondo Chakka says it kind of sounds like a party and Nell wonders if they will have good food. Pesche leans in and wonders if they are the food and Nell and the others freak out.

Suddenly Dondo Chakka gets an idea and asks Nell if she has kept her hood up the whole time. She says she has and he hatches a plan. He and Pesche grab Nell and run from the cave. They stop before the Hollows and show them Nell. They shout out that she was transformed into an Arrancar by Aizen. He pulls down her hood and shows her broken mask. All the Hollows bow on the ground and Dondo Chakka asks if they know a way out.

One of the Hollows points to a way and Nell and the others walk toward it. Suddenly, their path is blocked by an Adjuchas. Nell and the others point out that Nell is an Arrancar and the Adjuchas says that it has nothing to do with that. Ashido and Rukia arrive in an open space on a ledge.

Ashido reveals that he arrived at this spot with some other teammates. He has a flashback of them battling fiercely in a street full of Hollows. The Hollows are retreating and they jump through into Garganta. Ashido and the others all leap through in pursuit. They arrive on the ledge and are immediately surrounded by Hollows.

Their battle attracted the Menos Grande and he was forced to watch as one by one his teammates fell. Finally he and his friend were the only ones left. His friend is injured so he leaves him behind a tree and leaves to fight the Menos. A Hollow appears behind the injured Soul Reaper and charges. There is a gasp and the Hollows mask goes flying.

Ashido hears the sound and runs back to the tree. His friend smiles at him then falls forward with a horn sticking out of his back. Ashido stares in horror as his friend dies. The Menos fire and in anger Ashido grabs the Hollow Mask and blocks the attacks. He leaps forward holding the mask and attacks.

Ashido tells Rukia that he has stayed and fought in order to protect human souls and to keep the promise he made with the ones who lost their lives. Ashido says that he didn’t ask Rukia if the Hollow numbers were decreasing to see how well he had done. Instead he had wanted to be able to tell his friends. Rukia apologizes and Ashido says she shouldn’t be apologizing.

Ashido says that when she meets up with her friends she should hurry back to Soul Society. Ashido points out that if they are not really affecting the Hollow’s numbers there is no point in staying. Rukia thanks him but says that they came to rescue a friend held captive in Las Noches.

Ashido says that there are Vasto Lorde class Hollow there and that normal people would have no chance. Rukia smiles and says that she is a dear friend and that she is not on her own. Rukia asks Ashido why he brought her there and he points to the graves of his friends and says that he wanted them to hear her talk. He says it has been a long time since they heard a Soul Reaper’s voice.

They are interrupted by a heavy reiatsu and Rukia says it is Ichigo. They leap forward but when they arrive at the spot there is nothing there. An Adjuchas appears and says he got rid of all traces of their reiatsu. He calls on a huge group of Gillian and Ashido tells her not to worry since the Gillian will leave if they destroy the Adjuchas.

The Gillian all fire Ceros and Rukia and Ashido dodge. Using a mask from his fur as a shield, Ashido blocks the blasts as he jumps forward. Rukia and Ashido dodge all the blasts and attack the Adjuchas but he blocks with his arm. The Adjuchas sends the Gillian after Rukia but she dodges. Ashido calls out to her.

Rukia hides behind a tree out of sight from the Menos. The Adjuchas appears behind her and stabs out with a claw. Ashido watches in horror and remembers his fallen comrade. He leaps in the way and takes a hit. His mask shatters and he falls backward with a look of shock. Rukia screams out to him as he falls.

Bleach 147: The Forest of Menos! The Search for the Missing Rukia

Lunuganga reappears in front of Ichigo and the others. Rukia releases her zanpakutou, Sode no Shirayuki. She is about to activate Hakuren but she needs to stab the ground and they are on Bawabawa. Before they can react, Lunuganga opens a sand pit beneath them. Rukia slips off but the others fail to notice.

Rukia is thrown to the side of the pit. She tries to get a grip of something but she is pulled under. Unable to resist, Ichigo and the others are sucked in as well. In a dark area, someone picks up a sword and draws it. Ichigo and the others fall toward the ground in a dark underground forest. Uryuu suddenly catches sight of a group of Menos Grande walking around a ways away.

Bawabawa hits the ground hard. Ichigo, Renji, Uryuu and Chad are all unharmed. Suddenly Nell falls from the sky and lands headfirst on Ichigo. Ichigo falls to the ground clutching his head. Pesche calls from above and suggests that Ichigo move. Ichigo looks up and has Pesche and Dondo Chakka land on him as well.

Ichigo sits up and wonders where they are. Uryuu walks over to a tree and fells it. He is surprised and then he says that they are the same as the ones above. Uryuu comes to the realization that the trees above are the tips of the trees that are below ground.

Chad comments that the forest is very thick. Ichigo turns to find Nell and the other two shaking on the ground. Nell turns sobbing and says that they are in the Menos Forest. Uryuu tells the others of the Menos he saw as they were falling.

Uryuu says that probably the Espada and the Arrancar live on the surface will the other Hollows live below. Ichigo asks Nell if she knows a way out but she says she has never been there before. She only heard stories about it so she does not know. They start panicking and Ichigo tells them to relax.

Uryuu agrees and Uryuu says the Hollow must have a way to get in and out. Suddenly Renji realizes the Rukia is missing. Ichigo asks when they lost her and Uryuu says it must have been when they fell. Rukia wakes up covered in debris. She gets up and calls for Ichigo. Suddenly, she hears something and brings up her zanpakutou.

She looks and sees a bunch of glowing eyes. Someone emerges from a cave wearing a Soul Reaper robe, a large fur and a Hollow mask. After a moment, the figure flash steps away. Rukia defends herself from scores of Hollows. Rukia wonders where they all came from. She calls for Ichigo again then sees a light in the distance.

She blows back the Hollow with ice and runs toward the light. She emerges and gasps as she sees some Menos Grande. They turn to her and one fires a Cero. She takes a step back and the ledge she is on crumbles causing her to trip. The Menos fires and she turns away. Suddenly, the strange figure appears in front of the Cero. He grabs her and flash steps away again.

With Rukia under his arm, he quickly dispatches the two Menos. Rukia catches sight of his worn zanpakutou as he slashes. After they are dealt with he again flash steps away. Ichigo and the others search for Rukia. Uryuu says it is strange since she fell at the same place as them. Ichigo says that since Rukia is small and light, she would fall fly farther away. Renji agrees and Uryuu wonders what they think Rukia is.

Bawabawa starts making noise and Nell translates saying that he will climb the tree and look for Rukia from there. Pesche and Dondo Chakka praise Bawabawa and tell him to take a good look for the “despicable” Soul Reaper. Ichigo and Renji turn to each other and Renji mutters that they were called despicable.

As Bawabawa starts to ascend, Uryuu stops him and says he will help look. Chad agrees and they both jump on Bawabawa. The unknown person carries Rukia under his arm as he jumps from branch to branch. Rukia continually tries to get him to let go but he does not answer.

She grabs his arm and pushes off in the opposite direction. She looks back but he is gone. She gasps, and then he appears in front of her and grabs her once again. She asks him what he is doing. He speaks telling her to be patient because they will arrive at his hideout soon.

Inside a cave somewhere, shadowy figures meet. One says the forest is getting noisy. The next says there are several strange reiatsu there. Another asks what they should do and the last says that “they” will be dead before they know it. Someone else arrives and says that they got a message from Las Noches. The first says that things are getting exciting.

They arrive at the unknown person’s cave and he lets Rukia go. He walks in and she follows. Inside, she takes a look around and sees an orb of light in the ceiling. She asks if he created it with kidou. He does not reply and she says that he really is a Soul Reaper.

She asks him for his name and his squad. She tells him again to say something and he replies that his name is Ashido. He tells her that they are in the Menos Forest. He explains that it is the Menos’ nesting grounds. He picks up his blade and leaps into the air.

Rukia takes a step backward as he lunges for her. She draws her zanpakutou and blocks the first strike. She tries to get an explanation but he ignores her. The second attack sends her flying. She pushes off the wall and strikes back. She notes that he is strong but he uses wild movements.

He flash steps above her and his next attack sends her rolling across the room. She gets to her feet and watches him trying to catch her breath.

Meanwhile, Ichigo calls up to Uryuu asking if they can see anything. Uryuu says they can’t and Uryuu says he is sure he saw Menos but they are gone now. He hears Renji and Ichigo below and looks to see a bunch of Hollows coming toward them. From their position they take out a few of the airborne Hollows.

On the ground, Ichigo and Renji wonder where they are all coming from. As they are fighting, the Hollows start howling. Nell shouts at them all to run away. Pesche and Dondo Chakka tell her not to worry about the “bad guys.”
A shadow falls over them and marks the arrival of the Menos Grande. One of them reaches for Bawabawa. Uryuu and Chad cannot retaliate because Bawabawa is trembling and they cannot get a clear shot. Ichigo blasts it back with Getsuga Tenshou.

They continue to fight the Hollows. Nell watches from behind a tree. Pesche suggests they try to escape. Nell does not want to leave and Pesche tries to convince her to forget about Ichigo. There is a roar behind them and they see a horde of Hollow blocking their escape.

They yell for help and Ichigo turns and calls to Nell. She is being carried off by a flying Hollow as well as Pesche and Dondo Chakka. Ichigo wants to go after them but there are more loud roars and on the edge of their vision they see red eyes. A whole group of Menos Grande emerge from within the forest as Nell and the others fly past.

Chad comments that there are so many and Uryuu says they are the ones he saw earlier. A Menos opens its mouth and fires a Cero. Back at the cave, Rukia battles the mysterious Soul Reaper. She jumps back and asks if he brought her back just to kill her.

Ashido does not answer. He charges and there is an explosion. Rukia is backed against a wall. Ashido asks if that is all. He then points his sword at her. She throws some dirt at him and picks up her sword but he has disappeared.

Suddenly he appears behind her. Rukia turns and her eyes widen. Unable to do anything she watches as Ashido stabs out with his sword.

Bleach 146: The Name is Nel! The appearance of the strange arrancar

Ichigo, Chad and Uryuu are about to continue toward Aizen's castle Las Noches, when they sense something and turn to see 3 Hollow emerge out of the ground and chase what looks like a cloaked human girl.

Ichigo uses his covered sword to whack the first Hollow in the face. The other two stop in shock and look back. A shadow covers them and they look to see Chad and Uryuu falling toward them. In seconds the 3 Hollow are subdued and trembling. The girl tells Ichigo and the others to stop it. She takes off her hood and reveals a mask.

Nel apologizes with the others for giving Ichigo the wrong idea. She claims that they were playing a game called "eternal tag." She explains that there is nothing fun to do in Hueco Mundo which is why they play. Ichigo asks why she was crying and she says it is no fun if she doesn't make it serious.

Ichigo punches one of the other Hollow and asks what they are teaching her. Uryuu asks her about her name and she introduces herself as the Arrancar Nel. She also introduces the others as her brothers: Dondo Chakka, Pesche and their pet Bawabawa.

Ichigo is confused about their whole setup and asks how Arrancar have families. Nel says that they found each other and decided to be siblings. Ichigo tries to say that they aren't really family, but gives up when Nel and the others freak out.

Ichigo says that she is totally different from the Arrancar that came to the real world. She points out her broken mask to him as proof and says that the ones that travel are Numeros who work for the Espada. Nel and her group agree that they are lucky.

Nel points out that they don't look like Arrancar because of their clothes. She says that Ichigo actually looks like a Soul Reaper and the others agree. Then they freeze and start sweating. There is a moment of silence and then Nel asks Ichigo what his job is. Ichigo says he is a substitute Soul Reaper and Uryuu says he is a Quincy. Chad says he is just a human. Nel and the others freak out and say that they are bad guys.

Ichigo asks if they didn't know who they were. Nel shouts that they never told them. Nel holds her head and says that Ichigo is going to kill them. Ichigo says that he won't but Nel and the others huddle up and ignore him. They decide to get rid of the "bad guys" by tricking them in eternal tag and then beating them up.

Nel asks Ichigo to play then she leaps forward, grabs his zanpakutou and runs away. Ichigo chases after her and Pesche and Dondo Chakka chase after him. Uryuu and Chad are content to watch when Bawabawa starts chasing them and they are forced to run as well.

Suddenly Nel, trips on a branch in her path and falls. Ichigo quickly picks up Nel and jumps out of the way. Like Nel, Pesche and Dondo Chakka trip and fall where Nel was moments before. Uryuu and Chad jump over them and Bawabawa lands on top, flattening them.

Ichigo comments that it was close and Nel asks why he saved her. He puts her down and explains that she would have been crushed by all of them. He asks her if she is alright and she says she is fine. Ichigo picks up his sword and puts it on saying goodbye and that they are in a hurry.

Nel watches in awe as Ichigo starts walking away. She shouts after him, asking if he is running away. Ichigo is confused and he turns around. Then he sees that there are tears in her eyes. He sighs and says that he can't play with her. She starts crying and says that she would rather die than stop playing now.

Suddenly a loud voice shouts that it will give her the death she seeks. There is a loud rumbling and a giant creature rises out of the sand. Nel freaks and Ichigo asks who he is. Nel says that it is the guardian of the white sand, called Lunuganga. Lunuganga says that he heard there were intruders but Nel and company should be ashamed at working with them. He says he will turn them all into desert sand.

Nel starts to stutter an excuse but Ichigo tells her to move and blasts Lunuganga with Getsuga Tenshou. Lunuganga's head is split down the middle and Nel, Pesche and Dondo Chakka gasp and say that it was a cheap shot. They call Ichigo a bad guy and he turns around and shouts at them to be quiet because he just saved them.

Uryuu and Chad look past Ichigo and gasp. They tell him to look and he turns to see Lunuganga's head coming back together with sand. Lunuganga comments that Ichigo is becoming more despicable by not acknowledging a cheap shot. Ichigo starts shouting back that it wasn't unfair at all. He turns to Nel and asks what Lunuganga is. She replies that he is made of sand.

Lunuganga interrupts them by throwing a punch. Ichigo dodges it and Lunuganga makes a tornado and sends it at them. Nel is lifted off the ground and Ichigo grabs her hand just in time. He pulls her back down and the cyclone dissipates.

In response, Lunuganga spawns three more cyclones and sends them at Ichigo and the others. Ichigo uses Getsuga Tenshou and the blast cuts through the cyclone and Lunuganga's face, but he reforms both and laughs.

Uryuu suggests that they all attack at once. They all charge and fire blasts at the monster. The blasts connect and Lunuganga disintegrates. Nel warns them that he is coming back and a crater opens up beneath their feet.

They are being pulled in and Nel is sinking. Ichigo grabs her and asks Nel if he has a weakness. Nel says she can't tell it to a bad guy. Ichigo picks her up and pinches her cheek telling her that she will be pulled in too. She tells him that his weakness is water but there is no water in Hueco Mundo so he is invincible.

Lunuganga emerges and opens his mouth to swallow them all. At the last moment, a blast of ice freezes him. He falls backward and shatters. Ichigo looks in the direction of the blast and his eyes widen.

Rukia and Renji stand on a nearby hill. In Soul Society, Commander Yamamoto is informed that Rukia and Renji have gone missing. He curses as he realizes what they have done. Nel is frightened by the new Soul Reapers but Ichigo runs toward them.

They jump from their hill and wait for him, smiling. As he greets them, Rukia punches him in the chin. She then tags Renji who smashes Ichigo in the jaw. Nel gapes and Uryuu asks Ichigo if he is alright. Ichigo lies on the ground and Rukia tells him he is stupid for not waiting for them.

Ichigo says he wasn't sure if they were coming back. Rukia shouts in his face that they were coming back no matter what. She reveals that they had planned it from the beginning. She says that they are his friends. Ichigo says they are right.

Rukia then asks about Nel's group and there follows an embarrassing scene as they try to introduce themselves in a cool way. Ichigo gives a short explanation and they are about to continue to Las Noches when Nel calls after Ichigo calling him "Itsygo." He turns to correct her and she says they will help too.

They ride on Bawabawa's back toward Las Noches. During the trip, Nel holds on to Ichigo and glares at Rukia. Rukia asks why and Nel asks her what her relationship is with "Itsygo." Renji says Ichigo is popular with the ladies and Ichigo tells him to shut up.

They talk some more and Ichigo asks about how they got their cloaks. Rukia shyly says that her brother gave them. Ichigo and the others are surprised and Ichigo says Byakuya is getting soft. Rukia then says that Byakuya said: "That filthy brat will never survive Hueco Mundo if he's left to his own devices." Ichigo gets angry and punches Bawabawa by mistake.

He is interrupted by a loud rumbling and then Lunuganga emerges from the sand in front of them.

Bleach Episode 143 Summary

Having followed Ichigo to Urahara’s store, Keigo, Mizuiro, and Tatsuki sneak in to find out what’s going on. Down below, Urahara opens up a hole used by Arrancar called a Garganta and instructs Ichigo and friends to head towards the darkness by moving over the spirits. Before he leaves, Ichigo asks Urahara to tell his friends and family something that’ll make them not worry about him, and he vows to apologize after he comes back. Once Ichigo, Sado, and Ishida pass through the portal and it closes, Urahara calls out Tatsuki and the other two. He had known all along that they were coming and had even left the store unlocked for them. Urahara feels that Ichigo is naive for thinking that he could cut bonds just by acting a bit cold. Meanwhile, Inoue has arrived in Aizen’s throne room in Las Noches and gets asked by Aizen to show her power by healing Grimmjow’s arm. Luppi thinks that this is impossible and suggests that Inoue would have to be God to heal it, but to his surprise, Inoue succeeds in restoring the entire arm.

In explaining Inoue’s power to the bewildered Luppi, Aizen recalls how Ulquiorra had referred to it as time or spatial regression. Aizen himself thinks of it as event rejection - Inoue can limit, reject, and deny events so that she can return things to a previous state. It is a power that violates God’s domain. With his arm restored now, Grimmjow asks Inoue to take care of the burn on his back too - the one covering his No. 6 tattoo. Luppi realizes what this means, but before he can do anything, Grimmjow slams his arm through Luppi’s chest. After Grimmjow finishes Luppi off with a Cero blast, he starts laughing because of how he’s back as the Sexta Espada. By now, Ichigo and company are deep in a dark void as they head for Hueco Mundo, but both Ichigo and Sado are having trouble keeping their footing along the spirit path. Ishida, on the other hand, has no problems and gets asked by Sado about the promise with his father. Sado had heard from Urahara that in exchange for the Quincy training, Ishida wasn’t going to get involved with the Shinigami.

To answer the question, Ishida recalls how Urahara had visited the training place and told him about Inoue’s abduction. Urahara had also mentioned that Ichigo was going by himself to go save her, and upon hearing this, Ishida had asked for clarification. After Urahara explained that Soul Society dissociated itself from this matter, Ishida had decided to go with Ichigo after all. His reasoning is that Soul Society has abandoned Ichigo, so Ichigo isn’t really a Shinigami, meaning that he’s not breaking his promise by doing this. Back in the real world, Ryuuken finds the note that his son left. Ichigo’s father Isshin shows up at around the same time, and Ryuuken is a bit surprised to see him in Shinigami garb because this means that Isshin’s powers have returned. As for the note, Ryuuken feels that he doesn’t need to read it because he already knows what it says. Isshin thinks that Ryuuken sent his son on purpose, but Ryuuken notes that he merely restored his son’s Quincy powers. Whether Ishida keeps the powers alive or kills them is up to Ishida himself - that includes living and dying too.

In Las Noches, Inoue is sitting alone in her room staring out the window and worrying about if she should have come here. She realizes that healing the Arrancar will lead to more fighting, but she also feels that she has to make the them think that she has value, at least until the preparations for the battle are complete. Suddenly, Inoue starts sensing a great spiritual force. Aizen feels it too from his own room, and he knows that someone has come.

Bleach Episode 144 Summary

Ichigo, Sado, and Ishida burst into Hueco Mundo and find themselves inside a building that’s not quite what Ichigo imagined. Against Ishida’s judgment, Ichigo feels that it doesn’t matter if they make noise because then they can catch an enemy and find out where Inoue is. Ishida then inadvertently activates a booby trap that causes the floor to fall out, and he and Ichigo have to save Sado from falling into the hole below. Further down the hallway, Ichigo activates another trap, this time in the form of a giant rolling ball, but Sado shatters it with his punch. Shortly thereafter, the three are discovered by an Arrancar, but instead of facing him, Ishida and Sado run away, dragging Ichigo with them. Ishida has realized that they’re underground, so they can’t risk collapsing the building by fighting in the narrow hallway. Fortunately, they soon arrive in a huge circular room, though Ishida is still more interested in the exit on the far side. He never reaches those stairs up because a second Arrancar appears in front of him, and the first one soon arrives behind them.

Ichigo is ready to fight these Arrancar by himself, but Sado elbows him and insists that Ichigo be the one who steps back. Both he and Ishida think that Ichigo should save his strength until they find Inoue, and Ishida also reveals that he learned what they know about the Arrancar. Their opponents are the small and fast Iceringer and the large and strong Demoura, and in the beginning, Sado fights the former while Ishida battles with the latter. Demoura uses a technique that gathers surrounding spirit energy into his palms for attacking, and this prevents Ishida from gathering spirit energy to construct his own weapon. As Ishida is wishing that he could get more distance between himself and Demoura, he notices Sado having a hard time hitting Iceringer due to the distance between them. Because of this, Ishida stops moving and lets Sado punch Demoura instead. Ready to counterattack against a foe he’s better matched against, Ishida forms his new bow called the Ginrei Koujaku and fires off a volley.

Iceringer manages to get out of it with only a shoulder injury, but Ishida matches the Arrancar’s speed and reveals that he’s not a normal human - he’s a Quincy. His opponent responds by unleashing his Uña Tirotear attack that can rapid-fire 108 shots. This doesn’t bother Ishida at all though because his Ginrei Koujaku can do 1200, and this easily overwhelms Iceringer. Sado meanwhile has to deal with Demoura’s deadly tongue attack, however he’s able to stop it with his arm. He doesn’t like finishing off opponents who have lost their will to fight, but he realizes that this isn’t the time to be like that, so he powers up his arm for an attack he calls El Directo.\

Bleach Episode 145 Summary

After Sado defeats Demoura with his El Directo attack, a heavily injured Iceringer curses the humans, but Ishida makes it clear that he’s a Quincy. In fact, he’s kept Iceringer alive because he wants him to tell Aizen that they should fear a Quincy, not a Shinigami. Unfortunately, all this fighting appears to be causing this room to collapse, though Iceringer reveals that it’s actually collapsing because he and Demoura - the guards - were defeated. He tells them that there is no end to the battle and that there will be no victory for them, and as the chunks of the ceiling crush his body, Iceringer explains that they follow Aizen because there is nothing that he fears. Having barely managed to escape via the stairwell before the underground structure completely caved in, Ichigo and company find themselves in a desolate desert landscape. In the distance, however, is a gigantic structure that resembles a palace, and the three conclude that Inoue has to be in there somewhere, so they start heading towards it. After a long period of running however, Sado senses something and stops. A sandstorm of sorts suddenly starts, and the three get blown up into a twister, but Ishida saves them by creating a spirit barrier around them. Unfortunately, the barrier starts cracking, so Sado punches it, and the force of that ejects them from the twister.

The three’s presences have meanwhile been detected by the ten Espada who have gathered for a meeting, and Aizen soon joins them. After serving tea, Aizen presents a hologram of the three intruders and introduces them. He forbids his Espada from underestimating these three, and his talking about how these guys entered Soul Society leads to the Espada figuring out that they’re here to save Inoue. Grimmjow doesn’t want to stick around talking any longer and gets up to go kill the enemy, and although Aizen is pleased that Grimmjow would act on his behalf, he’s not done talking yet and uses his spiritual pressure to get Grimmjow to submit. Aizen then tells the other Espada that there’s no reason to make a fuss about this, so he wants them to return to their areas and wait for the enemy. He finishes by urging them not to be afraid because as long as they stay with him, there are no enemies who can stand against them. Back outside, Ichigo and the others stop for a breather because it doesn’t seem like they’re getting any closer to the palace. Ichigo suggests that it could be a mirage, and although Ishida shoots that idea down, Ichigo doesn’t care to know the explanation behind it.

Ichigo then notices a small lizard-like hollow running around, and this piques his curiosity into what that kind of Hollow eats around here. Ishida explains that Hueco Mundo has a high concentration of spirit particles in the atmosphere, so a small Hollow can be nourished just by breathing. The reason he knows about all this is because the Quincy fight by making use of the spirit particles around them, and he points out that the Arrancar will benefit from this atmosphere too. When Ishida starts going into length about how they’re not only the Arrancar’s enemies but also their food, Ichigo tunes him out and gets ready to start running again. Before he can get very far though, Ichigo senses something coming, and a giant worm-like creature suddenly emerges from the sand behind them. Along with two others Hollows, it appears to be chasing what Ichigo thinks is a human child, so Ichigo goes to save her.

Bleach Episode 142 Summary

When Ichigo wakes up completely healed, he senses a spiritual pressure around him, and Hitsugaya suddenly shows up in his room to confirm that it’s Inoue that he senses. Hitsugaya claims that they have an emergency, so Ichigo goes with him back to Inoue’s apartment where they proceed to contact Soul Society. It is here that they learn from Ukitake that Inoue has either been abducted or already killed by the Arrancar. This enrages Ichigo because they only know that Inoue disappeared with the Arrancar, so they can’t say that she’s dead yet. When Ichigo uses his healed wounds as proof that she’s still alive, Yamamoto appears on the other side of the transmission and concludes that if Ichigo’s story is true, then Inoue is indeed still living. However, Yamamoto also figures that this means Inoue has betrayed them because she wouldn’t have gotten a chance to go see Ichigo if she had been abducted, meaning that she had to have gone to the Arrancar on her own.

Hearing this just gets Ichigo angrier, but Renji steps in and vows to go to Hueco Mundo to open Inoue’s eyes to reality. Unfortunately, Yamamoto refuses to let him and wants all of them to return to Soul Society instead. When Rukia says that they can’t obey this order, Yamamoto has Byakuya and Zaraki appear through a gate to force the group to go back. Ichigo still intends to save Inoue without Soul Society’s help, and he wants to know how to get to Hueco Mundo, but Yamamoto turns him down because Ichigo’s power is needed for the upcoming battle. That night, Shinji finds that Ichigo had left a bag filled with cleaned bandages and a note saying thanks. Over at the Kurosaki house, Ichigo’s sister and father are trying to get him to eat dinner, but he doesn’t feel like it. Even Kon can’t get a reaction out of him because he’s so lost in thought. At school the next day, Ichigo gets lectured by his teacher and later gets a ticket from his friend Mizuiro for a preview screening of a movie. The date for that is December 5th, and Ichigo thinks that he’ll come back by then.

Ichigo then starts walking away from his friends, but Tatsuki stops him. She has been searching for Inoue, and she thinks that Ichigo knows something. When he plays dumb, she grabs his collar and reveals that she hasn’t been able to sense Inoue since yesterday. She really gets his attention by saying that she’s seen him in a black kimono fighting strange people, but Ichigo answers by claiming that it has nothing to do with her. Tatsuki punches Ichigo for this and, as she’s being restrained by Keigo, she questions what she is to Ichigo. She had thought they were friends and remembers all the times she helped him when they were kids. Without directly responding to her, Ichigo leaves her in Keigo and Mizuiro’s hands, and he asks them not to be concerned about him. As Ichigo starts to walk away, Tatsuki can only scream that he’s an idiot.

Later that night, Ichigo shows up at Urahara’s house where Urahara is waiting for him. Urahara had figured out that Ichigo would think that he was the only person who knows how to get to Hueco Mundo, so he made preparations. He is helping because feels responsible for what happened to Inoue, and he doesn’t mind disobeying Soul Society since that’s the reason he came here originally. In the training area underneath the store, Ichigo meets up with Ishida and Sado, and both want to go with him to Hueco Mundo. Ichigo doesn’t think that they’re strong enough, so Sado proves that he’s gotten stronger by throwing a punch. He wants Ichigo to believe in them, and he feels that Ichigo shouldn’t have to bear the burden alone - that’s what comrades are for. With Sado, Ishida, and Ichigo together now, Urahara thinks that their preparations are finally complete.

Bleach Episode 141 Summary

Having returned to her apartment, Inoue is writing out some housekeeping instructions for Rangiku and Hitsugaya. On her wrist is a bracelet from Ulquiorra that makes it so that only Arrancar can recognize her existence while also allowing her to pass through any substance. In addition, Ulquiorra had given her 12 hours to say goodbye to only one person, and that person isn’t allowed to realize the truth. Around this time, over at Urahara’s underground training area, Ikkaku and Yumichika are making a lot of noise while getting bandaged up for their wounds while Hitsugaya watches over them. Noticing that Urahara has been deep in thought ever since the Arrancar left, Hitsugaya considers how lucky they were to get out with only this much damage against all those Espada. He knows that the Arrancar preparations are already complete, so they have to hurry with their own preparations. Unfortunately though, they’re having trouble contacting Soul Society.

Inoue meanwhile is walking through the streets when she accidentally bumps into someone, but that person is unable to see her. She then notices that she has no reflection in a store window and that she is able to pass her hand right through it. Still thinking about who she’s going to say goodbye to, Inoue heads to school and stares at Ichigo’s desk. When she hears some students coming, she hides in the front of the room, but accidentally knocks over Ichigo’s chair in the process. The two students turn out to be Mizuiro and Keigo, and seeing the knocked over chair causes them to start talking about how Inoue, Sado, and Rukia have all been absent. When Keigo thinks that he and Mizuiro been left out of something, Mizuiro suggests that they’re probably not the only ones and cites Tatsuki too. This causes Inoue to start thinking about her memories with Tatsuki, and she sees Tatsuki walking with the karate club a short while later. Tatsuki senses something when a soccer ball gets kicked towards Inoue and passes through her head, but Tatsuki gets called away by her club before either she or Inoue can act.

Later that night, Rukia is having trouble contacting Inoue who she still thinks is in Soul Society. Rukia is currently in Ichigo’s room watching over him as he rests after Hachigen had used a spatial regression technique to repair him. Since she’s been kept in the dark, Rukia is left wondering who the Vizards are, what power Ichigo is trying to obtain, and why the Arrancar suddenly stopped fighting and left. She’s thinking about going to Inoue’s apartment when she hears Yuzu and Karin outside the room, and she finds that the two have brought dinner. After eating, Rukia washes her plate and has a brief chat with Ichigo’s father who thinks that Ichigo got beat up by students from another school. She then leaves for Inoue’s apartment, but unbeknownst to her, Inoue arrives at Ichigo’s house soon after. Using her bracelet power to pass through his window, Inoue enters Ichigo’s room and tells the still-sleeping him that she’s come to say goodbye even though there are a lot of other people she wants to say goodbye to too.

Noticing Ichigo’s sisters sleeping on the floor beside his bed with the dirty dishes beside them, Inoue guesses that they wanted to eat with him in his room after he had been gone for so long, and this makes her realize that this is the first time she’s come to his room by herself. With Ichigo’s smell all around her, Inoue bends down and tries to kiss him, but she stops just short and starts crying instead because she can’t do it. Taking a step back, Inoue admits that she had a lot of things she wanted to do, including becoming a teacher, becoming an astronaut, running her own cake shop, going to the doughnut shop to order everything, and going to the ice cream shop to order everything. She thinks of how nice it would be to live her life five times over so that she could be born in five different places, eat five different things, and have five different jobs. For all five times though, she feels that she would fall in love with the same person. Inoue then thanks Ichigo and bids him farewell. Back in her own room, on the notebook she had been writing in earlier, Inoue had signed off with the words “good bye. halcyon days.”

Bleach Episode 140 Summary

Having managed to avoid Wonderwice Margera’s attack, Urahara wonders what technique it was, and he gets his answer when Yammy hits him with the same attack. Yammy then gleefully reveals that this Bala attack is not as strong as a Cero, but it’s 20 times faster. He proceeds to fire shot after shot of it at Urahara, and even Luppi thinks that Urahara can’t live through it. Luppi then turns back to his own fight, and he gets pissed off when Rangiku calls him extremely chatty and says that that’s the kind of man she hates. Before Luppi can do anything though, he discovers that all of his tentacles have been suddenly encased in ice. This is the doing of Hitsugaya who has recovered from the earlier attack and now critiques Luppi for not following through. Since Luppi is so surprised to see him still alive, Hitsugaya explains that his Hyourinmaru is the strongest of all the ice types and that it can be revived no matter how many times it gets broken as long as there is water. If Luppi’s weapons are his eight arms, then Hitsugaya’s weapon is all the water in the atmosphere, and he uses it all to surround the Espada in a prison of ice.

Yammy meanwhile also gets a surprise when Urahara appears behind him and mocks his fear of Aizen getting angry. After having seen the Bala attack a ton of times now, Urahara feels that he won’t be hit by it anymore and strikes back at Yammy. The reason he had managed to survive the earlier attacks is because he had swapped himself out with his new portable gigai. Furious that he’s being belittled, Yammy tries to use the Bala attack again, but Urahara easily cancels it out because he’s figured out how it works. Elsewhere in the city, Ichigo is getting beat up by Grimmjow as he attempts to re-summon his mask. Grimmjow uses the opportunity to pin down Ichigo’s arms by spearing them with his sword, and he then charges up a Cero blast at point-blank range, but he doesn’t get to fire it because Rukia arrives to freeze his arm and body. With Grimmjow immobilized, Rukia attempts to pull out the sword from Ichigo’s arms, though unfortunately for her, Grimmjow breaks free and grabs her head. He attempts to finish her with a direct Cero blast to her head, and this time it’s Shinji who shows up to save her. Shinji claims to hate to get involved in Shinigami battles, but he feels it can’t be helped in this instance.

Despite Shinji not wanting to tell Grimmjow who he is, Grimmjow still attacks him. This leads to Shinji putting on his Hollow mask, and the battle quickly shifts in his favor, culminating in Shinji firing a large Cero blast. Grimmjow survives it only by firing his own Cero before Shinji’s hits him, and he responds by trying to release his true form, but he gets stopped by Ulquiorra who announces that their mission has been accomplished. All of the Arrancar then get surrounded by the Negación light, and it breaks the ice prison that Luppi was in. Before they disappear, both Yammy and Luppi vow to get back at their respective opponents the next time they meet. Ulquiorra meanwhile notices that there are traces of spiritual force that point to a new power from Ichigo, but he questions the extent of the power and feels that this is th
