ARRANCAR

Arrancars (破面（アランカル） arankaru?, Japanese for "broken mask," Spanish for "to tear off") are the most humanoid Hollows, having their masks almost completely removed—and from this—they gain the powers of a Soul Reaper, including a zanpakutō, as well as strength, speed, and intelligence beyond the level of normal Hollows.

In addition to those improvements, Arrancars also have hierro (鋼皮 (イエロ) iero?, Japanese for "steel skin," Spanish for "iron"), skin hard enough for them to fight against sword-wielding opponents bare-handed, but can still be cut through. Arrancars use a technique known as sonido (響転（ソニード） sonīdo?, Japanese for "transfer effects," Spanish for "sound") to travel at extremely high speeds across a short distance. Stronger Arrancars have been shown to possess proportionally harder hierro or faster sonido, among other abilities, either unique or based on common techniques, such as the several variants of the cero technique.

Like Soul Reapers, all Arrancars possess a zanpakutō (斬魄刀?, lit. "soul-cutting sword"). Unlike a Soul Reaper's, however, whose zanpakutō is a manifestation of its owner's soul, an Arrancar's zanpakutō manifests his or her power as a normal Hollow. With occasional exceptions, an Arrancar's zanpakutō resembles a regular sword in its "sealed state." When "released" through a process called resurrección (帰刃（レスレクシオン） resurekushion?, Japanese for "returning blade," Spanish for "resurrection"), the sword combines with and changes the appearance of the Arrancar. Part of the Arrancar's origional Hollow form is restored, and the Arrancar is granted greater strength and access to his or her original abilities from resurrección. In some cases, Arrancars can discard or remove certain elements of their released forms to better focus their powers. This results, however, in the Arrancars losing those attributes permanently, like ripping off one's own limb.

Arrancars become major antagonists in Bleach during the second part of the series, as they are led by Sōsuke Aizen, who uses the Hōgyoku to create and perfect the Arrancars. According to Tite Kubo, many of the Arrancars are named after real life architects and designers

MENOS

Menos (メノス menosu?, Spanish for "minus" or "less") Hollows have an unusually strong thirst for souls, which leads them to consume other Hollows and evolve into a stronger state of being. Within the Menos are three levels of evolution, each with superior strength, speed, and intelligence compared to its previous form. The first of these are the Gillians (最下大虚（ギリアン） girian?, Japanese for "least of the great Hollows," Spanish for "Countless Creature"), or Menos Grandes (大虚 (メノスグランデ menosu gurande?, Japanese for "Great Hollow," Spanish for "Great Minus"), which normally reside within the Menos Forest located below the desert surface of Hueco Mundo. The Gillians are powerful giants, born when countless cannibalistic Hollows gather into a feeding frenzy until they are mingled into one form, with very little intelligence or individuality as a result of being a collective mass of hundreds of Hollows. If one of the Hollows that now make up the Gillian retains its consciousness, the Hollow dominates the entirety and, after eating enough Hollows (including other Menos), eventually evolves into an Adjuchas (中級大虚（アジューカス） ajūkasu?, Japanese for "intermediate great Hollow").

Semi human or animal-like in nature, and smaller in size, the Adjuchas are able to fight against Soul Reapers, yet must continue eating Hollows so they do not regress permanently back into Gillians, with their minds destroyed in the process. There are some cases where Adjuchas halt regression when another Hollow devours even a small piece of their bodies, as well as cases where Adjuchas can command groups of Gillians. The few Adjuchas that transcend their limits become the Vasto Lordes (最上大虚（ヴァストローデ） vasuto rōde?, Japanese for "great king of the Hollows," Spanish and pseudo-Spanish for "vast lord"), the most human-like of the Hollows whose powers are thought to be greater than that of a Soul Reaper Captain's, to the point where Captain Tōshirō Hitsugaya speculates the Soul Society would be doomed if Sōsuke Aizen manages to get more than ten Vasto Lordes under his command

HOLLOW

The Bleach anime and manga feature an extensive cast of beings known as Hollows (虚（ホロウ） horō?), the central antagonists of the series. These are malevolent, deceased souls of formerly ordinary humans in the Bleach universe. Much of the series focuses on the Arrancars (破面（アランカル） arankaru?), more powerful variants of Hollows. The Arrancars make up the army of Sōsuke Aizen, the primary antagonist, and have a system of ranking based on strength. The most prominent Arrancars in the series are the ten most powerful Espadas (十刃（エスパーダ） esupāda?), and their direct subordinates.

The creator of the series, Tite Kubo, uses many Spanish motifs for Hollows. This is most prominent in the names for the various Hollow and Arrancar attack techniques. Many of the Arrancars also have Spanish-derived names.

Ghost-types Guide:

Souls There are two type of Souls - Plus and Hollow. Plus is the most common one that roams around places and does no harm, but those with strong regrets in the current world will bind themselves to their focus of regret by the Chain of Fate. If the focus is a person, they become 'obsessed spirits', and if the focus is a place, they become 'earthbound spirits'. Hollow, on the other hand attacks other beings (mainly those with high-spiritual density) and eat their souls.

---

• Earth-bound spirit

Those who are naturally assimilated with the land. They will only show itself when someone trespasses their territory.

• Grand Fisher

A name given to an infamous hollow who hides his body from being seen while his neck protrudes a lure that takes on a human shape, and devours souls with high spiritual density to increase his own strength.

• Hollow

All hollows are formerly human's souls or Plusses. There are many reasons why the Plusses become Hollows - they're not brought to the Soul Society by a Shinigami, escaped from Soul Society, not protected by other Hollows, or when they wanted to fill their empty heart and seek out their loved ones in their past life. Those who has become hollows eat souls to ease their pain and suffering, and cannot revert back to a normal soul.

• Menos Grande (Arankal)

- Gillian - Gigantic hollow that is born from hundreds of hollows that pile and mix

- Ajuukaru - Much smarter and stronger than a gillian, like a vice-captain compaired to a seated officer. Not many of them exist or so it is thought!.

- Vastoorode - Looks like a shinigami and is much stronger than your average captain. Not many are known to exist the few that do exist are only seen in Hueco Mundo. It is said that 10 of them would bring destruction to the Soul Society.

• Plus

Plusses are the soul that has been seperated from the original body and would not harm any other creatures. However, they have the potential to become a Hollow because of several reasons, whether they are willing or not.

• 'Target' Leech

Not a hollow, but it's actually part of the main hollow called Shrieker. It does have a little willpower, and does not feel any pain at all.
