Bleach Episode 139 Summary
Emerging from a dark cloud with his mask on, Ichigo claims that he doesn’t have time to explain and immediately attacks Grimmjow with a point-blank range Getsuga Tenshou. Across town, Hitsugaya isn’t able to do any damage to Yammy without activating his ban kai, and Yumichika’s faring poorly against Luppi. Ikkaku doesn’t help his friend because he isn’t interested in fighting two against one, though this gives Luppi an idea. He asks Yammy to give him Hitsugaya and then proposes that he fight all four Shinigami at once in his released form. Remembering what Shawlong could do in his released form Hitsugaya activates his ban kai and charges Luppi, but he doesn’t make it in time to stop him. Before the dust can clear from Luppi’s release, a tentacle strikes out at him, though Hitsugaya is able to block it with his ice wings. As it turns out, Luppi’s released form gives him eight tentacles, and he proceeds to attack Hitsugaya with all of them at once, causing the captain to crash into the ground. Meanwhile, Rukia has arrived in the real world and finds Renji getting a massage from the three mod-souls, so Renji explains how he exhausted his spiritual pressure in training and how Urahara went out instead of him or Sado.
Back above the city, Grimmjow is badly wounded from Ichigo’s attack and realizes that this isn’t a Shinigami’s strength. He demands to know what Ichigo did in this past month, but Ichigo reiterates that he doesn’t have time to explain and sandwiches Grimmjow between two Getsuga Tenshou attacks. As Grimmjow falls towards the ground, he manages to fire off a Cero blast that forces Ichigo to stop and defend himself. Grimmjow then flies back up and clashes swords with Ichigo several times before Ichigo regains his advantage and gets ready to make a swing that will end this. Unfortunately for him, his mask breaks right at that moment, and Grimmjow quickly uses the opportunity to retaliate. By now, Luppi is fighting Rangiku, Ikkaku, and Yumichika all at once and manages to grab all three with his tentacles. Admiring Rangiku’s body in particular, he sprouts some spikes on another of his tentacles and offers to fill her with holes. Before he can do so though, Urahara shows up and cuts off those two tentacles. However, shortly after Urahara introduces himself, Wonderwice Margera attacks him, and Urahara has to defend himself.
In Soul Society, Inoue is allowed passage through the dangai to the real world and is given two Shinigami as escorts. As they’re running through though, a rift in the dimensional fabric opens up and Ulquiorra appears. Recognizing him from the previous battle, Inoue tries to stop him from hurting her escorts, but he ignores her and blows away half of one Shinigami. Before that Shinigami can die, Inoue uses her power to start healing him and tells the other guy to run away. That escort doesn’t get a chance to do so because Ulquiorra blows a huge chunk out of him too, forcing Inoue to expand her healing to cover both men. Admiring Inoue’s power, Ulquiorra tells her to come with him and instructs her to reply with a yes. If she says anything other than that, he threatens to kill not her, but her friends who are currently struggling in their battles in the real world. He then reveals that Aizen wants her power and that he’s been sent to bring her back unharmed, so he’s ordering her to come with him.
Bleach Episode 138 Summary
In Las Noches, Ulquiorra and Yammy arrive in a room as Aizen about to complete an Arrancar using the 50% awakened Hougyoku. Despite its state, Aizen knows that he can temporarily fully awaken the Hougyoku by fusing it with someone who has twice as much spiritual pressure as a captain - someone such as himself. It is through this method that he finishes creating a young-looking Arrancar who identifies himself as Wonderwice Margera. With this done, Aizen sends Ulquiorra to execute the instructions he gave a month ago, and although he lets Ulquiorra choose who he wants to take with him, Aizen personally asks Grimmjow if he wants to go. Back at the Vizard camp, it’s been one month since Ichigo started his training, yet he’s only able to maintain his Hollow form for only 10 seconds. With two months left, Shinji feels that time is running out. Meanwhile in Soul Society, Hisagi finds Ukitake watching Inoue and Rukia train after Rukia had come to him personally to ask him to open up the training area. He’s glad that Rukia has a friend even if it is with a human, though he admits Inoue isn’t any normal human. As for Hisagi, he’s here to give Ukitake a magazine since he’s taken on of more captain duties in the absence of so many people. After Hisagi leaves to take care of other business, Ukitake thinks about little time they have and hopes that this temporary peace can last a little longer.
In the real world, Yumichika is getting quite frustrated with his zanpaktou while the others are trying to having a quiet dialogue with their swords. Soon after Ikkaku notices how fast the clouds are moving, all of them sense the arrival of four Arrancar. Among this group is Grimmjow who flies off as soon as he realizes that Ichigo isn’t here, and though Yammy tries to get him to stop, the Arrancar named Luppi thinks that it doesn’t matter since Grimmjow isn’t an Espada anymore. As Yammy leaps down to fight, Hitsugaya meets him halfway and the two introduce themselves. Luppi, the new No. 6, meanwhile faces off against Ikkaku and Yumichika while Rangiku tries to fight Wonderwice, but the boy is too intrigued by the nearby birds to care. Across the city, Ichigo has also sensed the Arrancar’s arrivals and wants to head out, but he’s held back by Love and Kensei. To their surprise, Shinji lets Ichigo go, and Ichigo rushes off. News of this has also reached Soul Society, but Inoue can’t go back to the real world until she can get safe passage through the dangai since she doesn’t have a Hell Butterfly. After saying that she’ll be waiting for Inoue, Rukia hurries towards the gate thinking about how it’s too early for the Espada to have appeared.
By now, Ichigo has reached Grimmjow and almost immediately initiates ban kai. Grimmjow isn’t impressed, but Ichigo reminds him that the scar he has is from an attack Ichigo did while in ban kai. When Ichigo then asks Grimmjow about his absent left arm, Grimmjow claims that he threw it away and doesn’t need two arms to kill Ichigo. As Grimmjow starts to power up, Ichigo gets ready to put on his Hollow mask, knowing that he has to finish this fight in the 11 seconds he can stay in that form. Over at Urahara’s shop, Renji tries to keep Sado from leaving to go help in the battle, but Urahara wants both of them to rest and decides to go personally in their place.
Bleach Episode 137 Summary
Returning to the room where the Hougyoku was stolen, Aizen dissipates Ulquiorra’s body and sheaths his own zanpaktou. After Aizen sits down, Ichimaru shows up and comments on how Aizen is letting Patras think that he killed Ulquiorra and took the Hougyoku. Aizen admits that he sent the real Ulquiorra to do something else, and when Ichimaru claims that he could have taken care of this, Aizen says that that would have been boring. Meanwhile, in the real world, Ururu and Jinta both try to attack Patras, but neither can hurt him, and when Renji emerges from the nearby rubble, he instructs them to go get Urahara. With them gone, Renji initiates limit lifting and ban kai, and the force of Zabimaru’s subsequent attack surprises Patras. It smashes Patras through the ground and into training area below the store, but Renji is aware that the battle isn’t anywhere near over yet. Elsewhere in the city, Hitsugaya and Rangiku are having a bit of trouble with the Arrancar that they’re facing whereas Ikkaku is having a bit more luck getting through the armor of his opponent.
Back at the underground area, Patras uses the level ten version of his attack, but it isn’t able to stop Zabimaru, so Patras has to get out of the way. Although he generally looks down upon Shinigami, Patras decides not to take Renji lightly and decides to change into his real form. Now at max level, Patras’ attacks are finally able to stop Zabimaru, and one of them actually breaks the skeletal links. Renji manages to protect himself from the attack, and afterwards, he questions what Patras intends to do with the Hougyoku. Patras’ admission that he wants to take over the world makes Renji realize that he’s rebelling against Aizen, but right as Patras is saying that Hueco Mundo shouldn’t have a Shinigami become its ruler, his two allies come crashing in from above. Heavily injured and on the run, both of them want to know if Patras has found out how to use the Hougyoku, and after finding out that he hasn’t yet, both die. Renji then re-links Zabimaru and attacks one more time, but he’s unable to overcome Patras’ attacks and gets thrown against some rocks. With Patras getting ready to finish Renji off, it’s the mod-souls who come to the rescue once again to distract the Arrancar while they help Renji to a safer location.
Having apparently figured out Patras’ weakness, Ririn sets up a plan with Renji and then confronts Patras head on. She taunts him into attacking her, but right after Patras finishes firing and tries to close his claw, Claude appears and prevents him from fully doing so. Ririn then reveals that she knows Patras accumulates his energy in his sheath and releases it with his sword, meaning that if he can’t sheath his sword, he can’t attack again. Patras then tries to shoot them with his other arm, but Nova appears with his shield to take the hit, and Ririn gets Renji to finish Patras off. One large blast later, Patras is dead and the Hougyoku drops to the ground. Both Urahara’s group and Hitsugaya’s group show up soon after, and Urahara reveals that these Arrancar were being manipulated by Aizen. The Hougyoku that Patras had was only a fake, and Urahara thinks that they had probably been set up by Aizen’s zanpaktou - Kyouka Suigetsu. He isn’t positive why Aizen intentionally let them have the Hougyoku, but he does think that it has something to do with how, on the way back to the store, he and the others had accidentally run into Ulquiorra at the spot where Ulquiorra and Yammy had originally appeared. Urahara thus suspects that Aizen had a different objective and was using Patras to create an uproar as a diversion.
Around this time, in Hueco Mundo, Ulquiorra is reporting on his investigation into Inoue’s powers and how they could help Aizen. As for where Inoue is right now, Ulquiorra only knows that she isn’t in the real world, and Aizen commends him on job well done.
Bleach Episode 136 Summary
In Las Noches, an Arrancar named Patras arrives in the room where the Hougyoku is being held, but he gets caught by Ulquiorra who reminds him that this is a place he can’t enter without Aizen’s permission. Patras, however, doesn’t understand all this reverence to Aizen and questions why they have to do what a Shinigami tells them to and why their freedom has been taken away. Feeling that this place changed after Aizen showed up, Patras doesn’t intend to obey a Shinigami and wants to use the Hougyoku himself to control this world. When Ulquiorra doesn’t think that someone who’s not even an Espada can do anything, Patras reveals that he has two allies who promptly attack. Ulquiorra is caught off guard and ends up getting slashed and stabbed until he falls. Patras then takes the Hougyoku with the intent of becoming king and heads off to the real world with his allies to find the person who knows how to use it. Hitsugaya, Rangiku, Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Renji all responds to the Arrancar arrival, though since Renji is furthest away, he doesn’t join the others in facing off against Patras’ friends, both of whom release and transform.
While one Arrancar fights Hitsugaya and Rangiku and the other gets to battle Ikkaku, Patras is in the meantime passing through the city when he encounters Kon. Shortly thereafter, Renji finds a scratched up Kon who reveals that Patras is headed for Urahara’s store. Already there, Patras tells Jinta and Ururu that he wants to meet the person who knows how to use the Hougyoku, but Renji arrives in time to tell him that Urahara isn’t here. In fact, Urahara, Tessai, and Sado had earlier headed off to make some purchases to restock the store, leaving Renji and the others to tend to the shop. Since Patras wants to wait for Urahara’s return, Renji draws his zanpaktou and starts the battle. Ririn and the other mod-souls meanwhile return to their human-sized bodies so that they can help out, and they save Renji from getting hit again by Patras’ super-fast sword draw technique after he had already gotten knocked into the ground by it once. They then use their powers to catch Patras off guard and manage to land several hits, but the Arrancar soon turns the tables by knocking all three out. With Renji still rearing to fight, Patras proceeds to use the second level of his twenty level sword technique which hits with so much force that it knocks up a cloud of dust that covers the entire store. Unbeknownst to them, a recovered Ulquiorra has also arrived in Karakura.

Bleach Episode 135 Summary
When Kon and Rangiku see a girl fall into the river after trying to retrieve her stuffed animal from the water, Rangiku brings out Kon’s modsoul and throws it into that stuffed animal so that he can save her. Kon succeeds, but afterwards, the combination of the young girl not letting go of him and a crowd gathering to see what happens prevents him from returning to his normal body. With Rangiku leaving him behind, Kon is taken to the girl’s home, and the fact that he is alive is soon given away when she tries to blow-dry him through his mouth. However, the girl, whose name is Miyuki, is delighted rather than surprised because she had been wishing for Shintarou - her dog stuffed animal - to come alive. Kon then notices that Miyuki appears to be living alone in a relatively large and well-furnish apartment, so she explains that her mother is at work and that they left their father because her mother that felt he wasn’t good for anything. When Miyuki wants to play, Kon has no choice but to let her put a dress on him and feed him rubber dolls because he doesn’t want her to cry.
Afterwards, Kon suggests that they go outside to play with friends, but Miyuki refuses because she doesn’t have or need any friends. The only reason she had been outside earlier is because she had wanted to see her old house where she had lived with her parents and a real dog named Shintarou. Unfortunately, the real Shintarou had gotten hit by a car around the time Miyuki and her mother left her father. Seeing how lonely Miyuki is, Kon decides that they should go to this house, and the two have relatively little difficulty getting there. However, no one seems to be living there anymore, and across the street, Miyuki finds the flower and vase that mark the spot where Shintarou got hit by a car. When Miyuki touches the vase, Kon suddenly senses something bad and says that they should leave. The roar of a Hollow causes the electricity poles around them to topple over, cutting off their escape and giving them no choice but to enter the grounds to the house. Before they can get very far though, a two-headed Hollow appears before them.
Kon attempts to kick a bucket at the Hollow and then run away with Miyuki, but the Hollow heads the other way around the house and cuts them off. Saying that he’ll protect Miyuki, Kon attacks the Hollow, however his stuffed-animal kicks have no effect and he gets batted around instead. Still, with the Hollow going after Miyuki, Kon gets back up and continues trying to fight, even as his body is getting ripped up and smashed into the ground. What ultimately stops the Hollow from advancing towards Miyuki is her calling out Shintarou’s name to come save her, and it causes one of the heads to bite the other. It is at this moment that Rangiku enters the battle to slay the Hollow, and Kon sees the souls of two dogs emerge from it afterwards, one of them being the real Shintarou. When Miyuki comes over to hug his battered body, Kon tells her that she was saved by the real Shintarou, but he also makes it clear that she can’t rely on him and should make other friends. Recalling his own past as a modified soul and how his friends have helped him, Kon tells her that she should make friends if she’s lonely. Since he has to go now, Kon promises Miyuki that he and the real Shintarou are always watching over her, and he urges her to do her best.
In the aftermath, Miyuki gets reunited with her mother, and Rangiku returns Kon to his normal body. When she asks Kon about why he supported Miyuki so much, he proudly says that it’s because he’s an idol to children.
Bleach Episode 134 Summary
Having been ordered by Yamamoto to send someone to look into making the limit-lifting procedure simpler and to examine Arrancar and Espada spirit residue, Mayuri passes the task along to the Technology Development Bureau. Rin gets the job because only she wants to go to the real world, though in truth she wants to go mainly to eat sweets. Joining her is Hanatarou, and the two first head to Urahara’s shop where Urahara appoints Yumichika to show them where the Arrancar appeared. After Rin manages to get the readings she needs, the two pass by a shop where Rin buys some cake with the help of a machine that lets other people see souls. However, before they can move on, they encounter the soul of a baker who is chained to the store. Yumichika wants to send him to Soul Society, but Rin and Hanatarou want to listen to what the man has to say first. It seems that this baker, whose name is Momoyama Heita, got hit by a car and has a mother who keeps visiting the spot where he died. Since his mother never tasted one of his cakes, Momoyama wants to teach Yumichika and the others how to make a cake so that they can give one to his mother to eat. Rin really wants to do it, so they use Urahara’s kitchen and get going on their first attempt.
After a few problems as the group learns the steps, they finish the cake, but Momoyama wants someone who’s eaten cake before to taste it. Since Hanatarou, Yumichika, and Rin all haven’t, the duty falls to Renji and Sado who are still in training. When those two find it disgusting, the newly trained bakers are forced to go through several more iterations until they finally get it right. They then make their way back to the bakery and find Momoyama’s mother laying some flowers where he died. When they present her the cake, she surprisingly turns it down, stating that she can’t eat cake anymore because it reminds her of her son. In trying to chase after his mother, Momoyama accidentally knocks the cake to the ground, though it lands right side up and manages to keep its general form. Desperate for his mother not to leave, Momoyama suddenly experiences great pain as his chain starts crackling with red energy. At the same time, a Menos Grande appears, so Yumichika leaps up to fight it. After Momoyama chains up his mother to prevent her from leaving, Hanatarou decides to use his zanpaktou on the baker’s soul. He stops Momoyama from becoming a Hollow by hitting the chain at the spot where it attaches to Momoyama’s chest, allowing the zanpaktou to fill up and transforming it into a scalpel. Hanatarou then uses the stored energy of his zanpaktou against the Menos Grande, and Yumichika finishes it off.
A recovered Momoyama now rushes to her mother’s side, and she can now seem him thanks to Rin’s machine. Momoyama then tells his mother about the cake, so she tastes it and finds it delicious. Afterwards, she apologizes to him and promises that she won’t say it hurts to look at cakes again
Bleach Episode 133 Summary
Keigo’s sister Mizuho arrives at the kendo club to find its members all beat up after having been attacked the previous night by a rival school’s club. The goal of the rival club was to get them to pull out of the upcoming district tournament, and Karakura High School’s club is ready to do just that if not for Mizuho stopping them. She brings in Ikkaku to train the five first-years who didn’t get hurt, and to Keigo’s surprise, Ikkaku agrees to do it. He thus begins the freshmen on a training regiment from hell, and by the end of it, only one of them - a boy named Shinji - still has the spirit to spar with Ikkaku. Seeing him work so hard at this, Keigo asks Ikkaku why he’s doing it, and Ikkaku replies that it’s fun, but he also admits that it’s been a while since he’s seen eyes that desperately want to become stronger like Shinji has. The next day, Ikkaku finds the other four freshmen too injured to continue, and since Mizuho refuses to pull out of the competition, Ikkaku decides to go ask the other Shinigami to help. Unfortunately, both Rangiku and Yumichika turn him down because the kendo gear stinks too badly for them to wear.
Ikkaku eventually coerces Hitsugaya to help and gets Urahara to send Renji, but they’re still short one person even with Shinji included. They have no choice but to use the completely inexperienced Keigo, though Ikkaku isn’t worried because only three of them have to win out of five matches total. During the actual tournament, Hitsugaya easily wins the first round and Keigo loses the second round as expected. Before Renji’s match, he senses a Hollow, so he quickly gets the second win before heading off. The other Shinigami have to go too, leaving just Shinji behind as the fourth fighter. Ikkaku knows that he’ll win even if Shinji loses, but he feels that the person who wants to win the most is Shinji, so he urges him to go become a man. He then fights and defeat a Menos Grande with the others, and afterwards, Ikkaku rushes back to the competition. He arrives in time to see Shinji win, but Ikkaku still wants his own chance to fight in the competition, so he beats up the entire opposing team, including their leader that Mizuho has a grudge against for dumping her.
Bleach Episode 132 Summary
Because she’s so concerned about her brother, Karin one day accidentally kicks her soccer ball too hard and causes it to fall towards the nearby road. Luckily, a stranger - Hitsugaya - stops it before it enters the intersection and returns it to her. However, he then disappears. Karin is on her way to practice soccer with her friends, but when she gets there, she finds that the junior high school students are unwilling to give up the field. She ends up arguing with the older kids through the afternoon until one of them finally suggests that they settle it with a soccer match the following Saturday. Her friends don’t think that they can win and suggest getting Ichigo to help, but she tells them that he’s on a trip. On the way home, they run into Hitsugaya again, and, after trying to get to know him, Karin asks him to help them with the game. When Hitsugaya starts to walk off, Karin kicks her ball at him, and he surprises them by returning it via a bicycle kick. The kids gather around him in amazement, but Hitsugaya soon gets a cell phone notification of a Hollow, and he notices that Karin seems to sense something too. Since he’s the closest one, he runs off to fight it.
Karin goes searching for Hitsugaya again the next day and finds him in the same spot again. In an attempt to talk with him, she asks why he comes here, so Hitsugaya explains that this spot is the best place to view the sky - it brings back memories of the time he spent with Hinamori in his childhood. Hitsugaya then gets another cell phone notification of a Hollow and when he attempts to rush off again, Karin stops him because she senses something bad again. Fortunately, one of the other Shinigami soon defeats the Hollow, making it unnecessary for him to go. Karin then tries to get him to come practice with her friends, but Hitsugaya doesn’t give her a straight answer. He does end up coming to watch Karin and her friends practice, but he leaves when Matsumoto shows up and starts teasing him about having an interest in Karin. Hitsugaya doesn’t show up when the day of the match arrives, leaving Karin and her friends to play the junior high school kids by themselves. To make matters worse, in the opening play, one of the older kids injures Karin’s leg and rendering her ineffective, further crippling the team. The junior high team quickly goes up four goals to Karin’s team’s none, but then Hitsugaya finally shows up.
With Hitsugaya’s skills, the team is quickly able to even the score, and he even lets Karin kick the goal that wins it. Afterwards, he wants to talk with her about something, but he never gets around to it because a Hollow suddenly appears. Karin is surprised that Hitsugaya can see the Hollow, but she’s also unwilling to run away because of her friends there who are now unconscious. When she kicks a soccer ball at its face, the Hollow responds by trying to smash her with its fist. Acting quickly, Hitsugaya brings out his Shinigami form and saves her. He proceeds to use his ice powers to defeat the monster and manages to slice it in half before it can use its cero blast. Once the battle is over, Karin asks him if he knows where Ichigo is since she just saw that Hitsugaya is a Shinigami too. He’s shocked to find out that she’s Ichigo’s little sister, but he admits to not knowing of Ichigo’s whereabouts. Still, he does say that Ichigo is becoming stronger, just like she is, and he tells her not to worry. Karin then gets to meet Matsumoto, and she’s impressed that Hitsugaya has a vice-captain even though he’s a grade-schooler. This of course gets him really mad because, despite how he looks, he’s not actually in elementary school.

Bleach Episode 131 Summary
Despite Yui telling him to run away, Shouta still rushes to her side and is shocked to see the real form of the pseudo-Arrancar appear behind her. Yui pushes Shouta out of the way right before the pseudo-Arrancar tries to crush him, but Shouta still says that he doesn’t want to abandon her again. However, Yui then gets turned back into one of the pseudo-Arrancar’s minions and gets sucked up by its true form. When Rangiku tries to fight it, she manages to get in a few hits, but it then sends its minions after Shouta, distracting her long enough for the pseudo-Arrancar to go on the offensive. Fortunately Hitsugaya also enters the battle by freezing the minions and using his ice dragon on it. Faced against a captain now, the pseudo-Arrancar claims that destroying him will cause Yui to disappear too, and although Hitsugaya isn’t affected by the threat, Shouta is. Shouta’s attempt to stop Hitsugaya gives the pseudo-Arrancar the opportunity to escape into another dimension. While it is gone, the pseudo-Arrancar’s minions fill the skies and get sent out in every direction to consume more souls.
Upon contacting Soul Society for information about the location of their enemy, Hitsugaya learns from the Technological Development Bureau that the transmission source of the sound the pseudo-Arrancar uses to control souls can be determined based on the way its minions are distributed around the city. While they are trying to find it, Rangiku meanwhile explains to Shouta how the Shinigami are trying to save Hollows as well as souls. She feels that although they couldn’t protect Yui, they can still save her soul, and she wants to work together with Shouta to do it. The Technological Development Bureau eventually discovers that the pseudo-Arrancar is hiding in the area by the river behind a special barrier, so they need to destroy that barrier. Hitsugaya initiates ban kai to do this, but he doesn’t succeed until Shouta calls out to Yui and the flute sound suddenly starts up. Shouta can tell where the sound is coming from and helps Hitsugaya direct his attack there, revealing the pseudo-Arrancar. Despite transforming, the pseudo-Arrancar cannot beat Hitsugaya, though it is actually Shouta and Rangiku together who finish the pseudo-Arrancar off.
In the aftermath, Shouta digs up the flute from the ground where the pseudo-Arrancar disappeared and feels that Yui definitely made it to Soul Society. He’s ready to go after her, so Rangiku sends him off after one last hug.
Bleach Episode 130 Summary
Continuing his explanation, Shouta reveals that on the day of the accident, he and Yui were separated from their parents. They couldn’t find them no matter how much they looked, and on one particular night, Shouta woke up in the park to find that Yui was gone. Her scream eventually led him to her, but upon discovering his being threatened by the pseudo-Arrancar, Shouta ran away in fear instead of saving his sister. Regretting it later, Shouta returned to the park and encountered the pseudo-Arrancar again, and that’s when Rangiku had gotten involved. With Shouta now crying because of what he did, Rangiku comforts him by reminding him that Yui survived and by saying that it’s not too late for him to protect Yui now. However, Rangiku also knows that if Shouta’s story is true, then Yui encountered the pseudo-Arrancar. She then gets a phone call from Hitsugaya who had lost sight of the pseudo-Arrancar he was chasing. Hitsugaya is still with the soul that he had run into earlier, and this soul surprises him by suddenly transforming into the pseudo-Arrancar and attacking. Hitsugaya easily manages to cut off one of its legs, so the pseudo-Arrancar transforms back into the human disguise and runs away.
Back at their apartment, Rangiku tells Hitsugaya of how Yui was probably the first to have encountered the pseudo-Arrancar, but they don’t know how she survived, and Yui doesn’t remember anything. Hitsugaya, however, is more concerned about how the pseudo-Arrancar can disguise itself as a human soul. This makes Rangiku suspect Yui, so Hitsugaya goes ahead with an attempt to send her off to Soul Society. When he isn’t able to do so with the hilt of his sword, he confirms his suspicions that the pseudo-Arrancar must have done something to her. Hitsugaya then contact Soul Society so that they can do an analysis of Yui’s spiritual pressure, but until the analysis results come back, he places her behind a force field. Shouta objects to this, so Rangiku tries to explain that it’s to protect her from the pseudo-Arrancar. Since Yui is still afraid, Rangiku decides to give her the whistle item she bought at the shop earlier. With Yui now cooperating, Hitsugaya sends Yumichika to Urahara’s to tell Renji about what’s going on and leaves the children in the care of Rangiku again.
The next day, Shouta recalls how he and Yui had searched for their parents without any luck. When Yui wakes up from her sleep, she says she wants to go outside and wants to see their parents. To Shouta’s surprise, Yui claims that with his power, she can leave the force field, and she gets him hold his hand out to match hers on the other side. The force field disappears as a result, and Rangiku returns later from the convenience store to find them both gone. Before she and Hitsugaya can go look for the two, they get a transmission from Soul Society with the results, so Hitsugaya sends Rangiku ahead to look while he listens to the analysis. According to the findings, Yui is actually a clone created by the pseudo-Arrancar. She had been a human with strong, latent spiritual powers, and when the pseudo-Arrancar absorbed her soul, it gained tremendous power that allowed it to multiply. Akon thinks that there’s a high probability that she’s being controlled by the pseudo-Arrancar and her outward appearance is just acting. As for Shouta, Akon admits the possibility of him having an equally high spiritual power, making Hitsugaya realize that the enemy used Shouta to get out of the barrier and its target is Shouta’s power.
Unaware of what Hitsugaya just learned, Rangiku finds the two kids in the park, but Yui tells her not to interfere. Yui then starts emitting a great spiritual pressure that brings forth many of the pseudo-Arrancar. She motions her brother to her, and when Rangiku tries to stop him, Yui uses her power to pull him in. Rangiku can’t help because the pseudo-Arrancar are keeping her busy, and it is ultimately Shouta crying out Yui’s name that seems to knock her out of the trance. In pain, Yui now tells her brother not to come.
Bleach Episode 129 Summary
Rangiku allows Shouta to come with her to track down the flute noise, and the two arrive in time to see a businessman’s soul get eaten by the Arrancar. It seems to grow in power after eating the soul, and when Shouta starts throwing rocks at it, it fires a blast at him. Shouta fortunately is caught by Hitsugaya, and the captain helps Matsumoto attempt to capture their enemy. However, the Arrancar starts laughing evilly, and soon, more of it appear in front of them. In fact, there is a small army of them that all look the same, each with the power to divide into two. With Ikkaku and Yumichika also fighting more of these Arrancar across town, Hitsugaya orders all of them destroyed and tells Rangiku to head to an open area. Rangiku thus takes Shouta to the park and get surrounded, allowing Hitsugaya to then jump in to destroy all the Arrancar in one large ice attack. Afterwards, Shouta notices a girl sitting on a nearby park bench and recognizes her as his younger sister Yui.
Once they bring Yui back to their apartment, Shouta finally explains that she had been with him - blowing a flute - when his family was headed to the amusement park one day. They had gotten into an accident, and Shouta woke up with the chain attached to his chest and his parents gone. Yui had been the one he was searching for, and he’s very happy when she wakes up and recognizes him. Hitsugaya finds it strange that Yui would just appear suddenly in the park and questions Shouta, but before he can answer, their conversation gets interrupted by a transmission from Ukitake and Akon from the Technological Development Bureau. Akon explains that the spiritual pressure of all those Arrancar matched, meaning that each of those Arrancar are part of one and share the same consciousness. The multiple bodies allow the Arrancar to absorb more souls while its main body can remain hidden and issue orders. Before cutting off the transmission, Akon promises to look more into the flute sound that they’re hearing before the attacks.
While the others go out to keep watch over the town, Rangiku stays behind to keep an eye on Shouta and Yui. Later that night, she finds Shouta looking depressed despite being reunited with his sister and suspects that he’s still hiding something. Shouta thinks that it’s none of her business, and the two suddenly hear a noise from the other room. They find that Yui has disappeared, and all around town, the flute noise and Arrancar have appeared again. In chasing one of the Arrancar, Hitsugaya comes across a soul that seems too scared to talk to him, but that soul smiles evilly after the captain leaves. With Matsumoto following close behind, Shouta heads directly to the park to look for his sister. She is indeed there, sitting almost lifelessly on a swing set, and when Shouta questions her, she tells him that she just wanted to come to the park. Yui seems happy that Shouta came and says that she’s not scared since he’s here. However, this gets Shouta frustrated because he knows that he originally ran away and abandoned her here at the park.
Bleach Episode 128 Summary
Ichigo is still in training with Hiyori, but up to now he’s only increased the amount of time he can keep on the mask by half a second. At home, because Yuzu is almost in tears over how Ichigo hasn’t come home, Isshin suggests that it’s just Ichigo rebelling from his surroundings. Isshin recalls a similar experience in his own adolescence and feels that Ichigo is currently out somewhere satisfying his heart’s desires. Karin is also confident that Ichigo is fine, so Yuzu calms down. Hitsugaya, Rangiku, Ikkaku, and Yumichika are meanwhile at the park discussing how they have to get stronger for the upcoming battle when Rangiku realizes that it’s time for her to go shopping. She ends up trying on and buying lots of outfits, and then checks out an accessories store after the clothing store. There, she finds a necklace with a flute-type object attached to it, but when she blows on it, she starts to hear another sound - one that reverberates through the city. Her cell phone informs her of a Hollow in town, and since she’s closest to it out of all the Shinigami, she decides to go investigate.
The sound eventually stops when Rangiku arrives at the park, but the ground suddenly starts exploding in front of her. A boy gets tossed from the smoke, and Rangiku quickly realizes that he’s a soul. This boy seems to be fighting a large Hollow, so Rangiku attacks it to protect him. It manages to catch her zanpaktou swing in its mouth, and it is at this point that Rangiku realizes that she’s actually fighting something similar to an Arrancar except that its spiritual pressure is murky. The Arrancar doesn’t seem to care about her as much as it wants the boy, so Rangiku decides to take the boy to safety. Fortunately, Ikkaku then arrives and quickly destroys the enemy. Yumichika and Hitsugaya also show up because of how the Hollow’s spiritual pressure pattern had suddenly changed. They figure out that Rangiku was fighting an incomplete Arrancar - but still an Arrancar - and Hitsugaya thinks that Aizen must have intentionally sent it. As for the boy, he manages to piss off each of the Shinigami by addressing them as old or bald (in Ikkaku’s case), and he refuses to go to Soul Society because he claims to still have things to do.
Hitsugaya manages to ask the boy about hearing the sound and if the Arrancar said anything to him, but since they think that the boy can’t tell them anything and just happened to be in the right place, Hitsugaya decides to send the boy off to Soul Society. The boy still refuses to go, so Rangiku suggests that he might be confused about what happened earlier and allows him to stay with them for the night. However, in the middle of the night, the boy sneaks out with Matsumoto’s zanpaktou. He doesn’t get very far before he’s caught by her again, and she gets back what is hers. When she questions why he took it, he tells her that it has nothing to do with them, so she makes him realize that it does have to do with them and gets him to apologize. However, the boy still doesn’t saying anything when she asks him about his name, family, or why he was at that place. He finally admits that he’s looking for someone and that his name is Toyokawa Shouta, but right after he says this, the sound starts up again. Across the city, the Arrancar is back, and Rangiku can sense his spiritual pressure.
